  1. Seating

    Decide where the stools go first. It sets how far the top reaches past the cabinets.

  2. Waterfall or not

    A waterfall end runs the top down to the floor on one side or both, and turns the island into a centrepiece.

  3. Sink or clear

    A sink in the island means a cutout and plumbing. A clear top is all workspace.

  4. Shape

    Straight, L-shaped or curved like the bar above: the room decides, and the top follows.
